A pet portrait is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give to yourself or a loved one. Most people are amazed at how a pet portrait by an artist brings their pet to life like a photo can't. Whether you want to capture your pet while they're still chasing balls around the backyard or whether they're now chasing them in heaven, a pet portrait is a wonderful way to honor and memorialize your pet.

I only use the very best in art supplies to create my pet portraits. Clairefontaine Pastelmat, along with the best there is in soft pastels and pastel pencils - Caran d'Ache, Stabilo Carbothello, and Faber Castell are my pencils of choice. These enable me to create a portrait with a high level of tone and detail.

For your part in commissioning a pet portrait, I will need the photograph of choice of your pet. Preferably, your pet should be facing the camera with a good reflection in the eyes and a reasonably good resolution for those important details. If, however, you don't have a good photo and you cannot take another one, I can still achieve a good result by drawing on my experience with past portraits and improvising a little with added detail.
